This phrase is thrown around a lot. When you go to answer the door, you can be greeted with “it’s just me.” Or when you answer the phone (most have caller ID) and the voice on the other end, “it’s just me.” What about the time you go knock at the door and you hear “who is it?” And you answer “it’s just me.” Have you ever given much thought to that phrase, “it’s just me,” how do we mean it? Are we excited and saying “it’s me” or are we like Eeyore say” no worries it’s just me?” My friend, Nancy, schooled me on this. I went to her house and when she came to the door I said, “it’s just me,” to which she replied,” it’s not just you, it IS you.” For the first time I realized I was assuming that they were expecting anyone but me, as if my value, worth and whole being was less than….

Let us look at it this way…. Do we go to Jesus and God and say “HI Lord, it’s just me again…” It hits me hard when I come to the Lord like that. Do I really think He is sitting there rolling His eyes and saying “oh it’s just you?” I know that is not true, but sometimes when we come to Him defeated and feeling lost, I think that is what we may be thinking. I want to say stop, stop saying “it’s just me.” God is waiting expectantly for us to come and sit at His feet. In fact, He is excited every time He hears from us, He can’t wait. Did God ever come to Moses,” Hey Moses, it’s just me again?” Or to Elijah, It’s just me?” NO God came boldly to Moses at the burning bush, and when He gave him the 10 Commandments. Elijah came to God defeated and whining, but God came to Him and had him fed and watered and then told him to go and he found a cave where God met him with a whisper. There was Jonah, Elisha, David, and the list goes on and nowhere was God not excited to see them and meet with them where they were and encouraged them to keep going. I am here to encourage you today…IT’S YOU, AND I AM SO GLAD TO KNOW YOU. We are here for a purpose and some days are rough and we may come to one another for hugs, prayer and encouragement, but remember it’s YOU, not just you and we I am excited to see you every time, even when my day has been less than I wanted it to be I am here excited to see you and let you know You Are Loved and needed.
